The apparatus that will be used to assess the sound localisation accuracy and speech understanding of patients in the trial. An array of loudspeakers and a visual projection system are positioned within an anechoic chamber. Thirty-six loudspeakers are distributed horizontally around the listening position with an additional 6 loudspeakers suspended above the listener and a further 6 loudspeakers positioned below the listener. The three visual projection screens are driven by three high-definition projectors. Responses are recorded using a trackball (localisation task) or through an intercom (speech understanding task).Back to article page
