  1. a Anxiety was assessed with the anxiety subscale of the Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale (HADS). Subjects with scores of ≥ 11 points were found to have anxiety [40].
  2. b Depression was assessed with the depression subscale of the HADS. Subjects with scores of ≥ 9 points were found to have depression [40].
  3. c Reference. Hinz and Schwarz (2000) estimated the prevalence rates of anxiety and depression in a representative sample of the adult population of Germany.
